St. Catherine Labouré

Catherine Labouré was a French saint who lived during the nineteenth century. Her mother died when she was nine years old and it is said that after her mother’s funeral the young Catherine kissed a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary saying; “Now you will be my mother”. St. Catherine Labouré was very devout, and often had visions and intuitive insights. She joined the community of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris. The Virgin Mary appeared to St.Catherine and gave her a vision of the Miraculous Medal which would be worn by millions of people and give great graces to all who wore them. St. Catherine was faithful to share this vision with her superior and after two years the medal was created by a French goldsmith and immediately gained great popularity. This medal can be seen in numerous artworks and in stained glass windows of St. Catherine. Her feast day is November 25th. If you would like to commemorate St. Catherine Labouré with a stained glass panel in your church or prayer chapel, please contact us and we will be happy to help you find a suitable design to order.
