Saint Francis Xavier Honored in Stained Glass

St. Francis Xavier Feast Day Celebrated in Stained Glass

A beautiful stained glass window panel features Saint Francis Xavier.

St. Francis Xavier is depicted in stunning stained glass.

Perhaps the greatest missionary Saint in the Catholic, Lutheran and Anglican Churches, beloved Saint Francis Xavier is celebrated on his feast day December 3.  Depicted in classic stained glass style by artisans in the studios of Stained Glass, Inc., this holy saint is shown holding a cross next to his heart, framed in breathtaking color and light.

A student with Saint Ignatius Loyola and one of the first seven Jesuits, Saint Francis Xavier was born in 1506 in the Kingdom of Navarre, part of modern day Spain.  He was a member of an aristocratic Basque family and his early life was filled with war as his people fought against the conquering Spanish, losing their wealth and standing as the Spanish king took over their homeland.

In 1525, Francis left to attend College Sainte-Barbe in Paris, and met fellow student Saint Ignatius Loyola, with whom he founded The Society of Jesus in 1534, dedicating his life to carrying the Word of God to peoples across the globe.  Saint Francis Xavier is revered for preaching and working as a missionary in Asia, Africa and India for most of his life, and is patron of African missions, as well as the cities of Bombay, India; Cape Town, South Africa and Green Bay Wisconsin, as well as many other notable cities around the globe.

Stained Glass Color and Light Honors Saint Francis Xavier

Besides the unique and intricate design, Stained Glass, Inc.’s tribute to Saint Francis Xavier includes a brilliant blend of color with an intensity and depth that is the result of heat fused mineral pigments.  Master stained glass artists blend old world artistry with cutting edge technology to ensure superior quality as well as unmatched beauty in works of stained glass design.  The young Jesuit is portrayed in worship with flawless imagery that dazzles the eyes and touches the hearts of faithful worshippers who behold it.  Perfect as a centerpiece window for church or chapel, and especially for shrines to Saint Francis Xavier, this stained glass window catches and reflects shifting shades of light as they travel across the lovely pane throughout the day and after dark.
