St. Aidan Stained Glass

St. Aidan was an Irish monk of the seventh century who worked as a missionary in Northumbria and established a monastery on the island of Lindisfarne. He is also known as St. Aidan of Lindisfarne or the Apostle of Northumbria. St. Aidan traveled on foot throughout Northumbria sharing the gospel as he went. He was known for his piety and generosity to those in need, and he established numerous churches, monasteries, and schools. He would often provide education and accommodation for orphans, and would pay for the freedom of slaves. Many of the ransomed slaves became his disciples, and he would instruct them in the priesthood. The symbol of St. Aidan is a stag as he is reported to have saved a stag that was being hunted. The stag can be seen in some stained glass art depicting St. Aidan or he is pictured as a monk holding a flaming torch. His feast day is August 31st, and he is the patron saint of Northumbria and fire fighters. Do you need a stained glass window or door panel of St. Aidan in your church, chapel, home or office?
